Corey R. Stone's Obituary
Corey R. Stone, 30, of Syracuse, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. Growing up, Corey played Valley Hockey for several years, also participating as a member of the Eastwood Bears football and Northeast Little League. He was a 2007 graduate of Bishop Grimes High School and played varsity football, golf, and baseball. After attending OCC, Corey received his NYS Master Barber License from Shear Ego in Rochester and went on to become the owner and operator of Il Barbiere Barber Shop in Mattydale for nearly 5 years. He had an ear for music, often traveling to shows to watch some of his favorite musicians. Corey was an avid golfer and loyal SU fan, he enjoyed watching SU basketball and football; he also enjoyed the New England Patriots and the NY Yankees; he always treasured his yearly trips to Yankee Stadium with his beloved father. Above all, Corey loved spending time with his family and friends; he spent every Sunday having coffee with his grandma and grandpa “Ga” and was famous for his Saturday Night BBQs.
Corey was a bright star, always greeting everyone with a broad smile and a huge hug. A true people-person, he could have a conversation with anyone; he was personable, quick-witted and always had something to say! Corey was a beautiful man who dearly loved his family and friends. He will never be forgotten.
He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Maurice and Rosemary (Schad) Weigand and uncles, David Weigand and Todd R. Stone.
Corey is survived by his parents, Dean R. Stone and Kathleen E. (Weigand) Stone; grandparents, Robert J. and Janet M. (Spenard) Stone; aunts and uncles, Michael (Barbara) Weigand, Thomas Weigand, Roseann Barone, Patricia (Rocco) DiMento, Shawn (Philip) Duffy, and Valerie Stone; along with several cousins.
A private funeral service in celebration of Corey’s life will be held at the convenience of the family.
