Cosmo A. DeRose's Obituary
Cosmo A. DeRose, 84, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on February 26, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born in Syracuse, September 5, 1935, son of Anthony and Julia DeRose. Cosmo served his country with honor as a member of the Air Force National Guard and was deployed to Germany during the Berlin Crisis. He truly enjoyed sharing stories of his adventures with Trapper and the boys while overseas. After returning from service, he became the lead mechanic at Pat Bombard Buick and later finished his career as a paint contractor with Syracuse Painting. Cosmo loved fishing, camping, the Yankees, and Syracuse basketball, but his passion in life was his family.
He is predeceased by his siblings, Clementine Endieveri, Josephine Lampasona and Frank DeRose.
Cosmo is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Catherine (Ponto) DeRose; daughters, Kathy (Mark) Jevis, Tricia (Mike) Crowell-Salcido and son, Cosmo (Jennie) DeRose. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Mark and Kristen Jevis, Michael Crowell, Ethan, Jacob and Anna Fritz. He is also survived by his brother, Louis (Mary) DeRose; several sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am on Monday, March 2, 2020 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Cosmo’s life at 10:30 am in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial with Military Honors will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2:00 – 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
