Cosmo John LaNeve's Obituary
Cosmo John LaNeve, 88, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Upstate University Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Syracuse, son of the late Vito and Caterina (Cavallo) LaNeve, Cosmo attended Eastwood High School. He later joined the U.S. Army as a Specialist, Third Class. Over the years, Cosmo worked for his family’s masonry business, as a roofer for Local #195, and as an electrical motor repairman for General Electric. After his retirement, Cosmo took great joy in cooking; he also enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing, and was an avid New York Yankees fan. Most of all, Cosmo enjoyed being with family, especially his 2 grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Cosmo was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Minerosa LaNeve, in 2002; and 9 siblings, Peter, Rita, John, Mary, Vito, Rose, Michael, Palmina, and Angela.
Cosmo is survived by his 4 children, Michael, Barbara, Catherine, and Theresa (Jerome); 2 grandchildren, Emma, and Dante; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In keeping with Cosmo’s wishes, funeral services will be private. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in Assumption Cemetery.
Cosmo’s family would like to thank his daughter, Barbara, for being his full-time caregiver for so many years.
