Cosmo C. Mancini Jr.'s Obituary
Cosmo C. Mancini, Jr., 80, of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Born on the North Side of Syracuse, son of Cosmo and Antoinette Mancini, he was one of six children. Cosmo was a graduate and star football player at North High School and was player of the year in 1947 and made All City and All State teams. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Cosmo retired as a Foreman with NY Telephone at the age of 53. He was predeceased by his son, Cosmo Mancini, III in 1988; sister, Mary Gangemi; 3 brothers, Frank, Lawrence and Nicholas Mancini. Cosmo is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary (Nicoletti) Mancini of Syracuse; son, Joseph Mancini of Syracuse and brother, Angelo (Rose) Mancini of Canastota. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 9:00 AM in the Thomas J. Pirro Funeral Home and 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery and Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 PM. Contributions may be made to Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church.
