Daniel J. Shewchuk's Obituary
Daniel J. Shewchuk, 82, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at The Cottages surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Daniel and Irene (Shal) Shewchuk.
Daniel served in the Army National Guard. He retired from Fisher Guide after many dedicated years of service. Daniel was a member of the Moose Club. He enjoyed building model tanks and airplanes. He was an avid SU sports fan. Most of all, Daniel loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Rose (Galuski) Shewchuk; two sisters, Mother Mary Shewchuk and Natalie Shewchuk.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 25 years, Karen (Straub) Shewchuk; his son, Tom (Diane) Shewchuk; his daughter, Dawn (Jim) Proia; 3 stepchildren, Larry (LouAnn) Pilon, Theresa (Rich) Weissenborn, and Frank (Alice) Pilon; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; his sister, Olga Shewchuk; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Daniel’s life at 10:00 am in St. Margaret’s Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
