David J. Del Vecchio's Obituary
David J. Del Vecchio, 67, of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. He was born in Syracuse to Joseph A. and Anna (Panunto) Del Vecchio.
David was a graduate of Le Moyne College, went on to become a Certified Public Accountant, and later obtained a master’s degree. David was a Commissioner of Finance and a Commissioner of the Department of Public Works for the City of Syracuse. He also worked for the City of Syracuse in Community Development and in the Department of Audit. He spent over 30 years working for the City of Syracuse. David was a college adjunct instructor for various colleges including Onondaga Community College throughout the years. He belonged to various organizations for forensic accountants and fraud examiners.
He was predeceased by his father, Joseph A. Del Vecchio and several aunts, uncles and a few cousins.
David is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Farley) Del Vecchio; his mother, Anna Del Vecchio; his brother, Joseph Del Vecchio; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 8:30 A.M. - 9:15 A.M. in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 927 Park Ave, Syracuse, NY, immediately followed by a funeral Mass in celebration of David’s life at 9:30 a.m. in the church, with burial in Assumption Cemetery.
