David P. Donovan's Obituary
David P. “Dave” Donovan, 56, of Cicero, passed away on Saturday June 14, 2025. He was born in Syracuse, graduated from Liverpool High School in 1986 and graduated from SUNY Oswego in 1990.
Dave was a man who lived big, laughed loud and never passed up an opportunity to turn a regular moment into a wonderful memory. Dave put his heart in everything, his family, his friendships and his career. He was a husband, a proud father, a friend, classic car enthusiast, a jokester, and a proud Oswego alumnus. Dave worked hard, played harder and loved the people in his life with his whole heart. He was the guy who would walk in the room and immediately make it better, usually with a giant smile and an inappropriate joke. Dave loved SU basketball, the New York Yankees, and the Pittsburgh Steelers…the Green Bay Packers were a close second! He leaves behind endless memories, lots of laughs, and many stories that we will be sharing throughout the years to come.
He was predeceased by his infant daughter and his uncle, William Donovan.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Cassandra (Malley) Donovan; his beloved daughters, Julia and Sophia Donovan; his parents, Theodore and Christine Donovan Jr.; his brother, Joseph Donovan; his in-laws, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that became family.
We will miss you forever; Football Sundays, and life in general, will never be the same without you.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Dave’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, at St. Patrick’s/St. Brigid’s Church, 216 North Lowell Ave., Syracuse, NY. Family and friends may call from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
