David L. Powell's Obituary
David L. Powell, 78, of Liverpool, NY went home to be with the Lord peacefully on January 13, 2023, with his family by his side. Dave was born September 4, 1944, in Lyons, NY, son of the late James and Margaret (Kelley) Powell. He was a 35+ year employee of Niagara Mohawk, with most of that time being spent as a hot stick lineman. In his retired years, he found enjoyment driving tractor and chatting up patrons at Beak & Skiff Apple Orchard. An avid golf fan with an average game, he could always be found on area golf courses with his golfing buddies, most notably his Monday night golf crew from Pine Grove.
Dave was known as a man of strong faith and was very active in the local church community. He found fulfillment from the many years of volunteerism at Syracuse Teen Challenge; helping bring purpose and hope to those who had lost their way.
Along with his parents, David was predeceased by his brother, David Halcus.
Dave is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beatrice “Bea” (Odorizzi) Powell; his children: David Powell of Minoa, NY, Michael Powell of Syracuse, NY, Brian (Jeanette) Powell of Camillus, NY and Danielle (Larry) Alampi of Liverpool, NY; his grandchildren: Christian Powell, Candace (Ben) Davis, Calvary Powell, Megan Powell, Nathan Powell, Lana Alampi, Rocco Alampi, and Gina Powell, and great grandchildren: Glen, Harvey, Ben and Lee Davis; his siblings, Jim Powell, Ron Lape, Carol Addison, Richard Lape, Christine Severance, Linda Earsing, and John Powell; and his step-father, Glen Halcus.
Calling hours will be held from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Trinity Assembly of God located 4398 NY-31, Clay, NY 13041. Following the viewing will be a celebration of life service from 1:30 - 2:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of CNY to ensure the continuation of end-of-life care that was so instrumental in keeping Dave comfortable in his own home. The family would like to personally thank each and every caregiver who was nothing short of amazing.
