David G. Sparks' Obituary
David G. Sparks, 84, of Liverpool, left this world peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from complications of pneumonia. David was born on November 9, 1939, in Tupper Lake, NY, to the late Robert and Anna (Dougherty) Sparks. He spent most of his youth and early adulthood on Hood Avenue on Syracuse’s North Side. He was a graduate of St. John the Baptist Academy and a communicant of St. John’s Church for many years. David graduated from Powelson Business School and Central City Business Institute (CCBI) before entering the Navy, where he served 4 years on tours in Turkey and Scotland. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a bookkeeper for the rest of his working life, including 17 years with Roger Burdick Toyota in North Syracuse.
David was a proud man who loved his wife and sons. He shared in their disappointments and celebrated their successes. He had a great sense of humor and was known to laugh at his own off-the-cuff comments. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Ellen Page (George).
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rosanne (Pasquale); his two sons, Dennis (Julia) and Robert (Katie); grandsons, Milo and Felix, and adopted son, Patrick (Lessa).
He is further survived by his brothers, Michael, Daniel (Frances), Timothy (Patricia), and Nedd Sparks; his sisters, Elizabeth Ernyey (Ron) and Kathleen Fleming, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will take place from 9:30 - 10:15 am on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Epiphany Parish (formerly St. Joseph the Worker Church), 1001 Tulip St. Liverpool, NY, followed by a funeral Mass in celebration of David’s life at 10:30 am in the church. David will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family would like to acknowledge our appreciation for all the doctors, nurses, and medical staff who cared for David during his hospital stay.
