Delia (Roach) Ficarro's Obituary
Delia (Roach) Ficarro, 86, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2019 at The Cottages at Garden Grove surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Syracuse, daughter to the late William and Anne (Tunney) Roach and worked for many dedicated years at Syracuse University to support her children’s educations there. Delia enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and loved to eat ice cream. Above all, she loved spending time with family and friends, especially her beloved grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Delia is predeceased by her husband, Robert Ficarro in 2008; her infant son, Paul R. Ficarro in 1954, and her brother, John Roach.
She is survived by her three sons, Robert, James (Arlene), and Paul Ficarro; two daughters, Paula (Jack) Scollo and Marybeth (Chris) DiBiase; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Nora Libertone, Peggy Lent, Nancy Brandt, and Helen Swift; brothers, Michael (Gail) Roach, Jimmy (Barbara) Roach, and Billy (Rosemary) Roach; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would also like to say a special “Thank You” to the nurses, administrators and aids at The Cottages at Garden Grove and Marcia from ArchCare.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Delia’s life at 12:30 pm at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Burial will take place in the Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
