Diane E. (Zimmerman) Morris' Obituary
Diane E. (Zimmerman) Morris, 64, of Brewerton, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, surrounded by loving family and friends. Diane was born in Syracuse to the late James H. and Catherine S. (Sacco) Zimmerman and graduated from Assumption Academy. She attended Powelson Business Institute and worked for Mutual of New York and the American Red Cross. She met her husband, Lockwood Morris, while working as an executive secretary at Syracuse University. Diane was known for her wonderful dinner parties, she was a great host and an even better cook, making many gourmet meals for her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing bridge, listening to music, and was an avid Syracuse Orange basketball fan. Diane was the most generous person to everyone who knew her; she had the biggest heart and will truly be missed.
In addition to her parents, Diane is predeceased by her husband, Francis Lockwood Morris in 2014, her brother, James R. Zimmerman in 2021, and her close family friend, Frank Tillman in 2022.
She is survived by her sister, Maryann (Alan) Smithling; her niece, Catherine Brigandi; her special cousins, Pam Latocha, Grace Fox, Sandy Leonard, and Jean Vurraro; her friends who were like family to her, Donna and Robert “Fuzzy” Roskopf, Carol Leska, Patti Catalano, Dan LaChance, and Curt Bell; along with several cousins and close friends.
Diane’s family would like to extend a special thanks to her close friends and caregivers, Donna and Robert “Fuzzy” Roskopf.
The family also wishes to honor their brother, James. There will be calling hours in celebration of Diane and James’ lives from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. North Syracuse. Diane and James will be laid to rest with their parents in Assumption Cemetery.
