Dolores P. Cahalan's Obituary
Dolores Patricia “Pat” (Orlowski) Cahalan, 84, formerly of Norwich, NY, and most recently of Syracuse, went to be with her Lord and Savior, after passing peacefully surrounded by her family on November 5, 2020. She was reunited with her beloved husband of 56 years, Francis Peter Cahalan, who predeceased her in 2019. Pat was born in Utica, NY, daughter of the late Francis A. and Harriet (Jankowski) Orlowski. She graduated from Utica Free Academy. Pat was Chief Court Clerk of the Norwich City Court for many years. She adored her family, and especially enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and longtime member of the Norwich Garden Club. Pat was a member of the altar rosary society at St. Paul’s Church in Norwich, where she also volunteered as their wedding coordinator.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Francis Orlowski, four brothers-in-law, Bernhard Stack, Michael Cahalan, James Cahalan and William Cahalan; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Cahalan and Julie Cahalan.
Pat is survived by her daughters, Mary (Gregory) Monashefsky, Diane (Kurt) DeLuca and Amy (Thomas) Knight; her son, Robert (Patricia) Cahalan; twelve beloved grandchildren, Michael, Katherine, Alexandra and Jack Monashefsky, Joseph and Janee’ DeLuca, Shannon, Lauren and Anna Cahalan, Daniel, Georgia and Jillian Knight; her sister, Barbara Stack; sisters-in-law, Carol Orlowski, Mary Rose Cahalan; brother-in-law, John Cahalan; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her family wishes to express special thanks to Pat’s devoted caregivers, Tammy Ryans, Tammy Graham, Eileen Kitts and Jake Stone.
Private burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Utica. A celebration of life will be planned for the spring of 2021.
