Dolores (Germain) Venezia's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of Dolores Venezia on October 24, 2018. Dolores lived a long and eventful life and is survived by her children, Mary Lu Caster, Margaret (Peggy) McCormick and Thomas S. Venezia; her brother, Stanley G. Germain; grandchildren; a great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Dolores was the second of three children born to Stanley Germain and Margaret F. Germain both of whom predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her spouse, Thomas V. Venezia and younger brother, Paul A. Germain.
Dolores had a long and distinguished career as officer of Northern Ready Mix, Inc. and the subsidiary Northern Companies. She played a critical role in the development and success of those companies. She was a prominent Oswego County business woman and served on several Boards of Directors including service as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Northern New York and Chairperson of the Fulton Chamber of Commerce. She was an avid golfer and former President of the Lake Shore Woman’s 18 Hole League.
Most of all, Dolores was absolutely devoted to her family and will be remembered as a dedicated and devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She was famous for her cooking and, when she was living near the 6th tee a Lake Shore Yacht and Country Club, would often greet friends and relatives with meatball sandwiches or other delights as they passed her house during a round.
Dolores was a woman with very deep religious convictions and was most proud of her service as a Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero, New York and at St. Patrick’s Church in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Dolores was an extremely generous person and was seldom spoken of without reference to her having a big heart. She will be deeply and profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, November 2, 2018 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm in Sacred Heart Church of Cicero.
