Dolores (Battaglino) Locey

Dolores (Battaglino) Locey, 83, passed away February 21, 2025, in Lakeland, Florida. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Battaglino. Dolores graduated from Eastwood High School and was on the Student Council and Member of the Gamma Alpha Psi Sorority. Dolores worked for the North Syracuse Central School District as a Secretary, including Smith Road Elementary School and the Cicero - North Syracuse Junior High School. Dolores was a devoted and loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. In her early years, she was a bowler. As an adult, she loved going to the ballpark to watch baseball, softball, and football. She was an excellent cook and loved having family and friends over for meals. Dolores enjoyed creating ceramic pieces for the holidays, many of which have been handed down in the family. She loved playing cards, doing her water aerobics, playing bunco, and spending time with the 19th hole club in the Cypress Lakes Community. Dolores was a devout Catholic who grew up attending Blessed Sacrament on Syracuse’s North Side. After her marriage and upon moving to Cicero she became a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. Upon her retirement, she split her time between Cicero, NY and Lakeland, FL where she attended St. Anthony’s Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Anna Adsitt (Battaglino) in 1978. Dolores is survived by her loving husband of 63+ years, Joseph Patrick Locey (Lakeland, FL); her children: Scott (Cheryl) Locey, Stephen (Cynthia) Locey, Mary Anne (David) Caccamo and Todd (Tracey Roman) Locey; eight grandchildren: Stephanie Locey, Anthony (Shelby) Caccamo, Jennifer Locey, Angelia Locey, Alex Caccamo, Andrew Locey, Samantha Caccamo and Mallory Locey; two great-grandchildren: Francesca Caccamo and Capri Caccamo; her niece, Leta (Edward) Angotti, a great-niece, Anne Marie (Phil) Angotti-Bisson, and great-nephew, John Angotti. We want to thank the staff at Lakeland Regional Health, especially the nurses in the Intensive and Palliative Care Units for the loving and professional attention they provided to Dolores during her stay at the hospital, it is greatly appreciated. A Catholic Funeral Mass in celebration of Dolores’ life will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 8229 Brewerton Rd., Cicero, NY 13039. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd., (corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212. In lieu of flowers, we are asking everyone to donate to Griffin’s Guardians, an organization that provides support and financial assistance to children battling cancer in CNY.
