Dolores W. (Wilson) Maroney's Obituary
Dolores W. (Wilson) Maroney, 96, of Camillus, passed away November 13, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born and raised in Auburn, NY and a 1947 graduate of Holy Family School in Auburn.
Dolores was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Barron) Wilson, both of Auburn.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Maroney; her brother, Robert Wilson and sister-in-law, Kay (Reid) Wilson.
Upon graduating from high school, Dolores worked for 17 years (1947 – 1964) for the New York Telephone Company in both Auburn, NY as an Operator and in Syracuse, NY as a Coin Phone Representative. In 1964 she stepped back from work to be a mom. She returned to the workforce in 1976 where she worked in retail at Flah’s and then at the New York Heart Center until she retired in 2000.
Dolores loved her home and cherished her friends and family. When her husband Edward was in the last years of his life she was by his side and took such good care of him. She and her daughter Maureen shared a special relationship that was a gift. She also cherished her granddaughter, Kaitlin. Dolores was not a lover of dogs, but her grand dogs, Chloe and Ambrose, won her heart
She is survived by her daughter, Maureen Maroney; her granddaughter, Kaitlin Maroney; her sister, Sister Mary Brendan Wilson (of Rochester) and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to acknowledge the outpouring of support from the doctors and staff at Upstate at Community for their compassionate care during this time. It meant so much.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 10:15 – 10:45 A.M. at Holy Family Church, immediately followed by a funeral Mass in celebration of Dolores’ life at 11:00 A.M. in the church, 127 Chapel Dr. Syracuse, NY 13219. Dolores will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Auburn.
