Domenic R. Urciuoli's Obituary
Domenic Urciuoli, 93, passed away on April 30, 2023, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Syracuse, NY, son of the late John and Mary (Abrunzo) Urciuoli.
He graduated from North High School. Dom enlisted in the US Marines at age 17 and was stationed in China. He came home and married the love of his life, the former Sara Piraino. They had been married for more than 73 years. Dom then entered Syracuse University and graduated from Syracuse University Law School in 1955. Dom and Sara raised three children along their journey, Patricia, Richard, and David. They loved to travel together, visiting many countries. Dom’s real passion was food, particularly Sara’s Italian feasts and entertaining their many friends over the years. Dom started his career as a lawyer with the firm Rizzo, Aloi, Grasso and Urciuoli and then started his own firm with a specialty in real estate law and became well-known and respected for his expertise in real estate development, zoning, and environmental law. At the end of his career, he became a real estate developer himself, creating numerous residential developments. In retirement, he and Sara wintered in West Palm Beach, FL and spent summers here in Syracuse. Dom and Sara enjoyed puzzles and loved Italian foreign films and spending time with family.
Along with his parents, Dom was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Talarico; brother Vincent Urciuoli, and daughter Patricia Haralambides.
He is survived by his wife, Sara, two sons, Richard (Kandy) and David (Nancy), six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A special thanks to all his dedicated caregivers for providing comfort and care at his home and the medical staff at Crouse Irving Hospital during his last days.
