Domenico Campolo's Obituary
Domenico Campolo, 87, of Syracuse passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. He was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy, to Vicenzo and Antonietta (Meduri) Campolo. Domenico served in the Italian Navy. He worked for FIAT until coming to America in 1967. In America, he worked for Pat Bombard Buick, where he was awarded many certificates for his skills, and he finished his work life with the City of Syracuse DPW. He was an avid hunter of rabbits and deer. Domenico enjoyed cooking for the holidays, and he loved his garden with the fig trees and all kinds of great things. He loved being around people and making them happy.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rosaria (Patane) Campolo; a brother Antonio; sisters, Santa, Catherine, Angela of Italy, and Teresa Modafferi of North Syracuse.
Domenico is survived by his children, Vincenzo Campolo of Syracuse and Antonietta (James) Briggs of Cleveland, TX; his sister Giovana Meduri in Italy, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Domenico’s life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 9:00 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Church, 406 Court Street, Syracuse. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery and Mausoleum. Calling hours will take place on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) Syracuse, NY 13212.
