Domenico R. "Mico" Tropepi's Obituary
Domenico R. “Mico” Tropepi, 72, of Liverpool, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017 after a long illness.
Domenico is remembered by his family members and closest friends as "Mico". He graduated from the Fuscaldo Marina Instituto Tecnico Industriale and continued his education at the University of Messina, Italy until he came to the United States in 1967.
Domenico owned and operated Tropepi Drafting Services and was a talented structural steel detailer for many years. A few of his major contributions were the Boston Opera Theater, the rebuilding of the Ground Zero Memorial, Carousel Mall, Turning Stone Casino, the Sewage Treatment plant and many other projects throughout New York State.
He was predeceased by his father, Francesco Tropepi, his mother, Teresa Pulitano' and his brother, Giuseppe Tropepi.
Domenico is survived by the love of his life of 21 years, his wife, Maria (Vecchio Ruggeri); his son, Frank Anthony Tropepi of Liverpool, NY; sisters, Domenica Tropepi Russo of Reggio Calabria, Caterina Tropepi Carbone of Minoa, NY and Luciana Tropepi of Reggio Calabria; brothers-in-law, Mariano (Cynthia) Vecchio Ruggeri of Camillus, NY and Joseph (Denise) Vecchio Ruggeri of Solvay, NY, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nephews and godchildren.
The family would like to thank the Hill Medical Center Oncology and Hematology doctors and staff for their extraordinary and compassionate care.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Domenico's life at St. Daniel’s Church on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM followed by a funeral mass at 12:10 PM in St. Daniel's Church, 3004 Court St., Syracuse, NY. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Domenico's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
