Dominic J. Zieno's Obituary
Dominic J. Zieno, 84, of Liverpool, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Norwich, NY and lived there throughout his childhood before residing in Sidney, NY for most of his life. Dominic enlisted with the U.S. Navy during WWII serving on the USS Cavalier in the Pacific. As co-founder of Sidney Appliance and Modern Kitchens, Dom was an award winning certified kitchen designer for Wood-Mode Custom Cabinetry for over 40 years, retiring in 1993. He was a devoted husband and father to his family. Dominic enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and gardening. He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of Charles Jacobi American Legion Post 0183. He was also a past member and president of Sidney Chamber of Commerce, a past officer of Delaware County Chamber of Commerce and a charter member of Sidney Development Corporation. Dominic was a communicant of St. Bartholomew Church in Norwich, NY and Sacred Heart Church in Sidney, NY. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Cecelia (Spadaro) Zieno; sons, Anthony (Ann) Zieno, Michael Zieno and Christopher Zieno, all of Sidney, NY; daughters, Julianne (Louis) Delsole and Denise (Vincent) Markowsky, both of Liverpool, NY; grandchildren, Matthew, Alycia and Daniel Zieno, Andrew Fessenden, Robert, Shawn and Emily Markowsky; brother, Augustine (Jean) Zieno of Norwich, NY and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. A Funeral Mass of celebration will be held on Saturday at 9:30 A.M. at St. Joseph the Worker Church, Liverpool, NY. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY on Friday from 4 to 7 P.M. Burial will be private. Contributions in Dominic's memory may be made to the Cardiac Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital or the American Diabetes Association.
