Dominick P. Cefalo's Obituary
Dominick P. Cefalo, 79, of Lyncourt passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. Dom, AKA “Ceffy” graduated from North High School in 1962. He served in the Army Reserve from 1967 and retired from General Motors. His love for and expertise in bowling is widely known in Syracuse and the surrounding communities, having achieved numerous scores of excellence in leagues and tournaments. Highlights of his bowling career included as a two-time winner of the Herald Masters Championship, and international tournament in Italy in 1972 and winning the Van Wie Senior Doubles with his twin brother Michael. Dom was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW.
Dom had a great fondness for the New York Yankees, old time Rock and Roll, and horse racing. He could be seen on any given Saturday night at Vernon Downs ripping up tickets and renaming the horses.
Dom is predeceased by his parents, Helen and Pasqualino (Pat) Cefalo.
He is survived by his brother Michael (Bonnie); his daughter Christina Centro (Ray); granddaughter Taylor Cefalo; a much devoted and beloved cousin “Aunt” Dolores Perrin; nieces, Renee Sager (friend Rick Yarowski), Michele Connor (Michael), Carrie Smith (Jeff); several great-nieces and great- nephews and numerous “Buddies.”
A funeral service in celebration of Dom’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 9:00 A.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
