Dominick Greco's Obituary
Dominick Greco, 79, of North Syracuse, passed away Thursday morning at the Francis House with his children at his side and his little dog Raymond. Dominick was born in Mendicino, Cosenza, Italy and came to the United States when he was 17 years old arriving on the Andrea Doria ship, eventually residing in Syracuse where he had family. Dominick retired from Carrier Corporation as a welder (area TR1) after 32 years of service. His favorite past time was social ballroom dancing and mostly to Latin American music. A self-taught dancer and never missing a song or a beat, his favorite dance was the Argentine Tango.
He is predeceased by his brother, Joseph Greco. Dominick is survived by his two children, Louis L. Greco and Monica (Robert) Emmi; two grandchildren, Dominik Joseph Greco and Leah Nina Emmi; two sisters, Maria DiCicco and Franca Caputo, both of Italy and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service in celebration of Dominick’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Francis House, Golisano Children’s Hospital or Hospice of CNY.
