Dominick T. "Duke" Modafferi's Obituary
Dominick T. "Duke" Modafferi, 86, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday at Community General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late Angela (Caruso) and Dominick Modafferi. Duke served with the US Navy during WWII, Pearl Harbor and Japan. He was employed with Carrier Corporation for 36 years, retiring in 1982. He was an avid bowler. Duke was everyone's best friend and loved spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his brother, Paul Modafferi. Duke is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ann (Denega) Modafferi; three children, Donna (Robert) Pollock of Liverpool, Paul (Susan) Modafferi of Cicero and Mark (Jill) Modafferi of Cato; eight grandchildren, Lisa (Jim) Cowburn, Kristin (Patrick) Culligan, Donna Modafferi, Gina (Bob) Modafferi-Cappuccilli, Katie, Brian, Nathan and Abbie Modafferi; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Anthony (Florence) Modafferi of Syracuse; a sister-in-law, Madeline Modafferi along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 8:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 9:00 am in St. Daniel's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
