Dominick N. Simone's Obituary
Dominick N. Simone, 82, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Saturday surrounded by his loving family. Dominick was born in Syracuse on June 27, 1931 to the late Rose and Dominic Simone. He was a graduate of North High School and served in the U.S. Navy. Dominick worked for 40 years as a millwright and retired from local 1163. He was a member of the John Venditti Post of Italian American War Veterans and the American Legion Post 1832. Dominick enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards and making homemade wine. But most of all, he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joan E. (Gibson) Simone in 1989 and five siblings. Dominick is survived by four children, Daniel M. (Lynn) Simone, Nancy M. (Kevin) Walsh, Judy A. (Jim) Laury and David C. Simone; seven grandchildren, Andrea, Steven (Renee), Eric, Bianca, Armand, Daniel and Nicholas; two great-grandchildren, a brother, Anthony "Tex" (Joanne) Simone; his companion, Rosemary DiMatteo along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 8:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 9:00 am in St. John the Baptist Church, where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. ( corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
