Donald P. Colella, 78, of Bridgeport, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017. Donald was born in Syracuse, NY, son of the late Dominic and Anne (Rossi) Colella. He was a graduate of CBA, Syracuse University, and Michigan Law. Donal Read Obituary
Carol and children, Its so heartbreaking to hear about Don. Big Hugs to you all. I only met you all a few times you made Kirt and I feel like part of the extended family and we love your family. Dave and Stephanie always share such wonderful summer memories when they visit you in Syracuse.

Hete and I offer our sincere sympathy to Carol and family. I started my law career with Don at Smith & Sovik back in the early 60's and have kept occasional contact with him over the years even though we have been on the west coast. Don was always a loyal friend and helpful colleague. His kind demeanor and willingness to help will be remembered and loss felt by many that have had the privilege to know and work with him.

Both Becky and I have the fondest memories of Don, whether they be from my practicing law with Don (there are a lot of stories there) or when Becky and I were able to catch up with Don and Carol at those chance meetings at antique shows, many dinners at various restaurants or annual fun at the Colella family open house. Don’s wry smile and kidding nature will be with us forever. I have to note that Don’s expert, involved, practical and professional approach to the practice of law is something that will be sorely missed, and cannot be taught at law school. Please accept our sincerest condolences to Carol and the entire family.

We are so sorry to hear of Don’s passing. He was such a wonderful and caring person and such a wonderful Dad. He loved his family and grandchildren so much. He and Carol put a lot of miles on their car cheering for John and Paul while playing soccer at Etown. Lois and i cherished the meals and laughter we shared with Don, Carol and his sons. We all will miss him.
I was privileged to have practiced with Don when he was at Menter, Rudin & Trivelpiece, P.C. Don was a kind man, thoughtful in his practice and always brightened your day, no matter what. He always had a smile for you, a thought (or two or more) about the latest SU game and his latest legal issue du jour that he was involved in which he always wanted "to run by you". His laughter was contagious and he made you feel good, regardless of the stresses that you were under for that day. He was a great credit to his profession and set the example for many of us on how important it was to conduct yourself professionally and to do the right thing in your practice. My sympathy to Carol and the rest of Don's family at this sad time.
