Donald D. "D.D." Logana II's Obituary
Donald D. “D.D.” Logana II, 40, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away in a tragic automobile accident on Sunday, November 20, 2016. He was born in Syracuse and graduated from Cicero-North Syracuse High School and SUNY Oswego. Don was a well-known weekday morning Anchor for THE News at Daybreak as well as an Investigative Reporter for Asked and Answered, a segment which answered viewer concerns, and Have You Heard, a segment which updated viewers on scams in the community, for WTOC-TV, a CBS affiliate in Savannah, GA; he was voted Best Local Investigative Reporter in 2015 and Best Local TV News Anchor in 2016 by Connect Savannah, receiving honors from The Georgia Associated Press, The New York Associated Press, and NYS Broadcasters Association. Before relocating to Savannah, Don worked as a Reporter/Anchor at WWTI-TV in Watertown, NY, and he began his career as a Producer/Reporter at WIXT-TV in Syracuse.
Don’s kind soul made an impact on every person he crossed paths with and he will forever be remembered for his unbreakable smile, cunning wit and ability to make everyone laugh. Most important to Don was his family and friends, his career, and sense of community. Don volunteered his time to many causes but those he held close to his heart were Savannah AMBUCS, CASA, Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure, and the National MS Society, Georgia Chapter, where Don set records for money raised.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Harriett and Francis Kritzer; his paternal grandparents, Paulette and Dominick Logana, and four uncles: John, Ronald, Eugene and Robert Kritzer.
Don is survived by his parents, Donald D. and Mary Jo (Kritzer) Logana of North Syracuse; his sister, Kimberly (Tony) Matyko of North Syracuse; his brother, Casey (Karey) Logana of New Hartford, NY; his nephew, Jordan Logana, and his niece, Samantha Matyko.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Don’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt. Family and friends may call from 3:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
