Donald Edward Overway's Obituary
Donald Edward Overway, 76, of Syracuse, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital on Saturday, July 15, 2023. He was born on January 8, 1947, in Mount Vernon, WA to the late Elmer and Virginia (Weaver) Overway. Donald was part of a non-denominational, worldwide Christian fellowship that was the central focus of his life. He learned to fly his dad’s small plane when he was 16, a passion which lasted his life as a commercial pilot, flight instructor and pilot certifications. He graduated from Central Washington State College in 1970. He owned Integrated Systems Design, Inc. and more recently was well-known for his booth at the Syracuse Market and as an on-call support/maintenance manager at his apartment. Donald loved people, hunting, fishing, golf, and dogs.
He leaves his older sister, Margaret (Gerald) Gunderson of Simsbury, CT; one nephew, David (Kimberly) Gunderson of Dallas, TX; one niece, Laura (James) Oliver; 2 grandnieces, Riley Gunderson and Brynna Oliver; 1 grandnephew, Jace Gunderson; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and so many friends.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. immediately followed by a funeral service at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road (corner of Buckley Road), North Syracuse, NY.
