Donald J. "Big D" Simiele's Obituary
Donald J. “Big D” Simiele, 67, went to be with his Lord and Savior on the 4th of July with his loving wife, Anne, by his side, as well as his six adoring children, grandchildren, and extended family members. Don was a valiant fighter in a five year battle against disease and illness.
Starting with knowledge imparted by his father-in-law, Ray Bills, Don began a 35 year career as a loan officer, beginning at Ray Bills Finance Corp and retiring from ACMG FCU. He loved his work and he loved helping people realize their dreams. Most importantly, Don loved the Lord with all his heart and was honored to serve as a deacon/board member at North Central and Destiny Christian Center Assembly of God churches. Don’s proudest roles in life were husband, father and friend. He adored his wife of 47 years and cherished his six children, eleven grandchildren, extended family, and friends old & new and he loved having them all over for big Sunday dinners, no invitations needed.
Left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy are his devoted wife, Anne (Bills) Simiele; sons, Donald (Dannielle) Simiele Jr. and David (Rhonda) Simiele; daughters, Laurie (Jeffrey) Johnson, Kimmie (Paul) Barrett, Nancy (David) Armbruster and Elizabeth Simiele; eleven grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held Monday, July 8th at 10:00 am at North Central Assembly of God Church, 7463 Buckley Road, North Syracuse NY, followed by burial at Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. To honor Don’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME is handling local funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Don’s memory may be sent in care of Marnie Underwood, 7123 Willow Road, North Syracuse, NY 13212.
