Donna L. Fortino's Obituary
Donna L. Fortino, 64, of Solvay, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Upstate University Hospital surrounded by her sons. Donna was born in Syracuse to the late John D. and Joan (Newell) Fortino, Sr.
After graduating from Paul V. Moore High School in 1974, Donna took on a variety of jobs, eventually making her way to Chase/Fiserv bank where she worked as a senior check reconciler for over 25 years. As a single mother, she went above and beyond, and then some, to provide a wonderful life for her two boys. The men they are today are a direct result of the sacrifices she made on a daily basis. Donna enjoyed playing bingo at the casino, baking half-moon cookies, volunteering at the local church food pantry, and spending time with her friends and family (especially her grandchildren)! Her absence will leave a hole in this world that no other can fill, but her legacy will live on through those she loved.
Besides her parents, Donna is predeceased by her siblings, Carol, Susan, and Kathy.
Donna is survived by her 2 sons, Jeffrey M. (Jessica Reitz) Atkins and Ted D. Bartlett, both of Solvay; 5 grandchildren, Jeremiah, Emma, Angel, Justina, and Cassidey; 8 siblings, Sally “Joanne” Jones, Jeannie Boland, John (Janine) Fortino, Judy (Jimmy) Bucher, David (Brenda) Fortino, June (Donnie) Atkins, Joseph (BillieJo) Fortino, and Randall (Alexis) Fortino; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services in celebration of Donna’s life will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Donna will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
