Dorothy M. "Susie" Nappa's Obituary
Dorothy M. “Susie” Nappa, 94, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Upstate University Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Syracuse to the late Lawrence and Dorothy (McConnell) Michel, Susie was a homemaker, her pride and joy was her family. She was a devout Catholic and a communicant of Holy Family Church. Susie loved to shop! She enjoyed traveling, listening to country music, and attending country concerts at the NY State Fair. She was an avid Yankee fan along with her beloved husband. Most of all, Susie loved to be with her cherished children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She always took care of her family and was their biggest supporter.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 75 years, John D. “Dick” Nappa on January 28, 2023, sons-in-law, Tom Erwin, and Rodney McCabe; and siblings, Larry Michel, Raymond Michel, Franny Michel.
Susie is survived by her four daughters, Cindy McCabe, Debbie (Sam) Tassone, Kathi (Kutz) Guanciale and Laurie Erwin; five grandchildren, Jessica (Dave) Fisselbrand, John (Aimee) Tassone, Michael Guanciale, Nicholas Guanciale (Amanda) and Danielle Erwin; three great-grandchildren, Jack Tassone, Molly Fisselbrand and Adriana Tassone; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank Upstate Hospital for all their care and support.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Susie’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 10, 2023, at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY, followed by interment in Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
