Dorothy R. (Bernice) Nowakowski's Obituary
Dorothy R. (Bernice) Nowakowski, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Ken and Kim’s home where she resided for the past 7 months. She was born in Duryea, PA, daughter of the late John and Josephine (Yaverski) Bernice. Dorothy retired from P&C after many years of dedicated service. She enjoyed camping with her husband for 25 years at Brennan’s Beach, and spent this past summer camping with Ken and Kim riding in a GEM car to the beach to watch the sunset.
Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Edward B. Nowakowski; son, Bruce Nowakowski; two sisters, Flo Kaugher and Clara Zielinski, and her brother, Robert Bernice.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Kim) Nowakowski of North Syracuse and Wayne (Anne) Nowakowski of Clay, NY; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 am on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Dorothy’s life at 9:00 am in St. Daniel’s Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
