Dorothy (LaFleur) Rinefierd Martin 's Obituary
Dorothy (LaFleur) Rinefierd Martin, our beloved mother, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from natural causes while living at The Cottages in Garden Grove, Cicero, NY. She was born in 1924 and was raised on a farm in Camillus. The second youngest in the family with 2 sisters and 3 brothers she used to quip that walking to Warners for school seemed like it was uphill both ways. Dorothy was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Cicero and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. As an elected official she served as Receiver of Taxes in the Town of Clay for 26 years until her retirement in 1986. Dot, as she was known to her friends, then went on to enjoy the winters in Florida with her husband, Richard (Dick) Rinefierd, Sr. Their full and active days caused them often to remark how they didn’t remember having time to work. Dick passed on in 1996 and after a few years alone Dot considered herself very lucky to again find love. In 2000, she married Cliff Martin and enjoyed more years of laughter and companionship until Cliff’s passing in 2012.
Along with two husbands, Dorothy is predeceased by sisters, Helen Witkowski, Margaret Higgins, and brothers, Howard, Jim, and Chuck LaFleur. Dot is survived by two sons, Richard (Kathy) Rinefierd, Jr. and Joseph (Victoria) Rinefierd; two daughters, Anne (Don) Moretti and Catherine (Rick) DeBoer; four grandchildren Joseph (Valerie) Rinefierd, Chelsea (Mike) Porteleos, Hannah DeBoer, Julie Moretti, three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Athena and Leo, and a step-grandchild, Tad (Jennifer) Shear, along with many nieces and nephews, some of whom grew up knowing her as “Aunt Babe”.
