Edie (Avery) Zdep's Obituary
Edie Zdep of Baldwinsville, NY passed away unexpectedly on March 22, 2016 having enjoyed 89 years of life and 66 wonderful years of marriage to her husband, Frank.
Her life was full, her generosity unmatched, her compassion, focus and positive attitude made her a woman admired and respected.
She was among the pioneers in Tupperware joining the company in 1953 and was
President of E-Z Distributors Inc. from 1958-1996. Having built their business from the ground up, Edie and Frank crossed many milestones, earned trips throughout the world and countless awards including Tupperware’s highest award, the Ad Astra.
Edie was on the Board of Directors at Maria Regina College, President of the Altar & Rosary Society of St. Margaret’s Church, President of the CBA Mother’s Club and the first woman to be on the Board of Trustees at CBA. She was most proud that she and Frank were recently honored as recipients of the Catholic Church’s Immaculata Award.
She was predeceased by her two sisters, Ruth Berring and Muriel Foley.
Edie is survived by her loving husband, Frank; three children, Michelle and Jack Edgerton of Manlius; Dr. Steven and Judy Zdep of Baldwinsville and Cindy and Bob Ulrich of Boca Raton, Florida; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Blaine Vossler, Chelsea Edgerton, Dr. Steven R. and Stacy Zdep, Lisa and Jason Pohlman, Christopher and Meagan Zdep, Kaelyn and Ben Leger, Lindsay and Ryan Benson, Taylor Ulrich and ten great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Jacki and Michael Goldberg, Kathy and Ossam Manea, Robert and Sandra Edgerton, Michael and Staci Edgerton, John and Kadi Edgerton and Christopher and Jennifer Edgerton; six step-great-grandchildren; sister, Esther and Al Viggiano; brother, Bill and Sarah Avery; brothers-in-law, Henry Zdep and Julian and Julie Zdep; along with many nieces and nephews.
The family so appreciates the loving care provided by her nurses and aides; Stephanie, Joelle, Anne, Mira, Vicky and Laura.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Edie’s life at 10:00 am in St. Margaret’s Church, Mattydale. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
Edie was known for her penny story and for attaching a penny to every card she wrote.
Though a penny has little monetary value, the inscription “In God We Trust” carried a lot of weight in how she lived her life and in the legacy she leaves behind.
