Edith (Sampaolesi) Santola's Obituary
Edith Santola, 95, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Loretto. She was born in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Attilio and Bessie (Bartolo) Sampaolesi. Edith retired from Kilian Manufacturing after many years of service. She was a longtime member with Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Edith loved to travel with her husband.
She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, James “Ginger” Santola in 1974; her daughter, Charlene Delaney in 2001 and her sister, Sue Carioggia.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Judy (Jim) Orioli of Auburndale, FL., her grandchildren, Michael (Kathy) Delaney, David (Karen) Delaney, Marie (Sam) Terrinoni and Stephanie (John) Surlock; her great-grandchildren, Michael, Kayla, Charlene, Conor, Ryan and Justin; two sisters, Bertha Canino and Verna DeStefano; son-in-law, Bill Delaney, along with several nieces and nephews.
Edith’s family would like to thank the 4th Floor staff at Loretto for all of their care and compassion.
A calling hour for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 from 8:45 am – 9:45 am, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in celebration of Edith’s life at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse. Edith will be laid to rest next to her husband at Woodlawn Cemetery.
