Edith Torio's Obituary
Edith (Coco) Torio, 99, passed peacefully at Van Duyn Home & Hospital on Monday. She was born in Lingnagossa, Sicily and came to the United States when she was 2 years old aboard the Taormina. She lived in the Syracuse area until she went to New York City where she met and married her husband, Jack Torio. Edith worked in the garment district in New York where she was an accomplished seamstress and also a great cook. She loved to dance with her husband who were excellent ballroom dancers. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Grace Coco; her husband, Jack Torio; sisters, Ann Greco, Josephine Cali, Rose Coco; brother, Joseph Cook and grandson, Michael Kennedy. Edith is survived by her son, John (Antonia) Torio of East Hampton Bay, NY; her daughter, Frances (Peter) Harris of Cicero; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 9:30 AM in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:30 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church. Entombment will be private. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Friday from 4 to 7 PM.
