Edna M. DeChirico's Obituary
Edna M. DeChirico, 96, of Syracuse, NY passed away Thursday, May 27th, 2021 peacefully, surrounded by family. Edna was a life-long resident of Syracuse, NY. She was born November 15h, 1924 in Syracuse, NY. After her schooling, she began her long-time career as an accountant for Empire Wallpaper and Paint, where she eventually retired from. Edna married her late husband, Joseph, in 1955, and enjoyed 42 loving years with him, while raising her son, Roger.
She was a member of multiple church groups, including Our of Lady of Pompey, Gethsemane United Methodist Church and St Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, where she enjoyed volunteering and attending church group trips. Edna enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, knitting, and spending time with her family. She will always be remembered for the way she would share her memories and stories with us, her beautiful smile, and her Sunday sauce.
Edna is predeceased by her parents, Nicola & Bessie Raccomandato and her husband, Joseph Anthony DeChirico. She is survived by her son, Roger E Allen of Spartanburg, SC, granddaughters, Kristina M (David) Bruns of Tully NY, Cynthia L (Timothy) Perry of Syracuse NY, Carrie J (Dion) Thomas of Nedrow NY, and Joleen N (Thomas) Blair of Columbia, SC, daughter-in-law, Lorraine M (Nelson) Hall of LaFayette, NY, 11 great grandchildren, Justin, Jeremy, Aaryel, Zachary, Joseph, David, Katlyn, Sierra, Lacie, Savanah & Sage, 5 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212 immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Edna’s life at 12:30 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
