Edward "Rusty" Caldwell's Obituary
Edward "Rusty" Caldwell, 92, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Syracuse, son of the late Raymond and Ada (Sweitzer) Caldwell, he was a graduate of Assumption University in Windsor, Canada. Rusty was a veteran of the United States Army and then became a stockbroker for Commonwealth Capital for many dedicated years. Rusty loved baseball and coached little league teams for many years.
Along with his parents, Rusty was predeceased by his first wife, Nora Patricia Ann Curtin Caldwell in 2005; his daughter, Joan Elizabeth Caldwell; and his sister, Helen Caldwell.
Rusty is survived by his six children, John (Lisa) Caldwell, Timothy Caldwell, Kelly McSweeney, Patrick (Sandy) Caldwell, Kevin (Amy) Caldwell, and Nora Caldwell; grandchildren, Daniel (Maggie), Elizabeth, Ryan, Molly (Brian), Nathan (Mackenzie), Lauren, Ciara (David), Mackenzie, and Jackson; great-grandchildren, Teagan, Daniel, Mac, and Kian; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Rusty’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. in Most Holy Rosary Church 111 Roberts Ave., Syracuse. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
The Caldwell family would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Camillus for taking such great care of Rusty.
