Edward F. Galvin, Sr.'s Obituary
Edward F. Galvin, Sr., 81, of North Syracuse, passed away at Upstate University Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 6, 2015. He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late John T. and Gertrude M. (Shetler) Galvin. Edward was a mechanical contractor who owned and operated Edward F. Galvin, Inc. for over 30 years. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed boating and fishing. Edward especially loved spending the weekends with family and friends for the last 37 years at his summer home in Cape Vincent, NY.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Shirley (Altenbrand) Galvin in 2014 and his siblings, John Galvin, Thomas Galvin and Irene Hawes.
Edward is survived by his five children, Rev. Dn. Edward F. (Debbie) Galvin, Jr. of Syracuse, Mary Galvin of North Syracuse, Kelly (Ron) Hayes of Cato, NY, Kristen (Guido) Misia of Jamesville, and Karen Kovacs of Clay, NY; six grandchildren, Natalie (Jon) Wilson, Julie (Robert) Shooshan, Andrew Kovacs, Deanna Petersen, Hunter and Tanner Hayes; five great-grandchildren, Addison, Gavin, and Piper Wilson, Michael and Matthew Shooshan, two sisters, Laurel Gendreau and Annie (Larry) Aubertine, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Edward’s family would like to thank the 10th floor Oncology staff at Upstate University Hospital.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Edward’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at St. Margaret’s Church, Mattydale. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
