Edward S. Kohler's Obituary
Edward Samuel Kohler Jr., age 90, passed away on May 26, 2021. He was born March 9, 1931 in Omaha Nebraska.
Ed joined the United States Navy after high school and served 4 years, 10 months aboard the USS Brush (DD-745) operating with the 7th fleet in Asia at the outbreak of the Korean war. Early in the war the Brush struck a mine, resulting in 13 deaths and 31 injuries. Following his discharge, Ed worked in banking and finance before becoming part-owner of Baldwinsville Boat Yard.
He is the author of five books, but his greatest love was always the sea. He and Marilyn made several trips up and down the East coast on their trawler “De’ ja- vu”, spending winters in Beaufort and Hackers Island, North Carolina.
Ed is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marilyn and his little dog, Abbie. He is also survived by stepchildren, Russell Fox, Daniel Fox, Holly Fox, and Melanie Watson, nephew, Mike Brown and niece Candy Ladd.
Ed’s family will hold a celebration of his life at a later date.
