Edward B. Nowakowski's Obituary
Edward B. Nowakowski, 90, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday at Loretto Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Duryea, PA and moved to Syracuse with his wife and together raised their family. Edward served with the US Navy during WWII. He was a Paper Franchise Owner with the Herald Journal prior to his career as General Foreman at New Process Gear for 17 years before his retirement. Edward then went on to work as a trainer at Laidlaw Bus. He loved camping and the outdoors, looked forward to summers at Brennan’s Beach for over 25 years. Edward especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Dorothy (Bernice) Nowakowski; his three sons, Bruce (Elizabeth) Nowakowski of Pennellville, Kenneth (Kim) Nowakowski of N. Syracuse and Wayne (Anne) Nowakowski of Clay; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his sister, Irene (Al) Czarnecki of Dickson City, PA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Edward’s family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Rehabilitation Department at Loretto Fahey, 2nd floor team for their care and support.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 am on Monday, August 24, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Edward’s life at 9:00 am in St. Daniel’s Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 1:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
