Edward J. Zawacki's Obituary
Edward J. Zawacki, 79, of Solvay, passed away August 26, 2023 at Crouse Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Joseph and Genevieve (Caban) Zawacki and graduated from Vocational High School. Edward retired from Carrier Corp. after 38 dedicated years. He enjoyed dancing, biking, roller skating and cross-country skiing, and loved activities with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his great grandson, Jordan Zawacki, and siblings, Lorraine Terry, Richard Zawacki, Janet Marie Wiley.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Barbara (Leone) Zawacki; two sons, Joseph (Rhonda) Zawacki and Jeffrey (Kelly) Zawacki; his grandson, Anthony Zawacki and granddaughter, Alaney (Tanner) Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Nicole Williams, Aiden Hunter, Anthony Zawacki, Jr. and a baby on the way; siblings, George Zawacki, Patricia Ciupa, Donald (Ann) Zawacki, Mary (Jim) Marcellus and Charles (Susan) Zawacki, along with several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Edward’s life will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September 1, 2023 at St. Charles/St. Ann’s Church, 501 S. Orchard Rd., Syracuse, NY. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
