Egidio "Gino" Brunetto's Obituary
Egidio “Gino” Brunetto, 81, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Upstate University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Passopisciaro, Catania, Sicily to the late Salvatore and Josephine (Trefilletti) Brunetto, Gino was a Mason/Truck Driver for the Syracuse DPW for many dedicated years. He was a devout catholic and communicant of St. Matthew’s Church in East Syracuse, and he enjoyed bocce, horse racing, poker, and other card games with family and friends.
Along with his parents, Gino is predeceased by his brothers, Vincent and Frank Brunetto; daughter-in-law, Tracy Brunetto; and many dear friends and relatives in East Syracuse and Liverpool.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Vincenza (Calabrese) Brunetto; his two children, Sal Brunetto, and Maria Pirozzi; grandchildren, Katie and Lauren Brunetto; siblings, Vincent, Frank, Joseph, Angelo, Carmella, Maria, Lucia, and Rosa; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Gino’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Matthew’s Church, 229 W. Yates St, East Syracuse. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY 13212.
