Eileen M. (Popps) Butera's Obituary
Eileen M. (Popps) Butera, 96, of Baldwinsville, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026. She was born to the late James and Anna (Whitford) Popps, she remained a life resident of Syracuse, NY. Eileen dedicated several years of work to General Motors and was an avid communicant of Assumption Church. Most importantly, she cherished gardening and cooking for her family.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her children James Butera, and Roseann Donvito; and her four brothers, Joseph, Richard, Buzz, and James Popps.
Eileen is survived by her son, Richard (Donna) Butera; grandchildren, Stephen, Christa, Richard, Nicole, Charlene, James, Timothy and Anastasia; several great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her brother John Popps.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY. A funeral Mass in celebration of Eileen’s life will be at Assumption Church 812 N. Salina St., Syracuse on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest privately in Assumption Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
