Eileen M. (McNeill) Ferrara's Obituary
Eileen M. (McNeill) Ferrara, 88 of Dewitt passed away Monday, June 12, 2023, at Upstate Hospital. Born in Syracuse to the late Eugene and Marguerite (Williams) McNeill, she attended Le Moyne College and received two associate degrees from Onondaga Community College. She worked for many years in the Jamesville Dewitt School District as a Teacher’s Aide. Eileen was a communicant of Holy Cross Church and was involved in many groups including Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, religious education, and various knitting groups. With the Holy Cross Knitting Group, Eileen knitted thousands of donated items for others. Eileen was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching SU football, NY Giants, NY Yankees, and NY Rangers games. She enjoyed gardening, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Eileen was predeceased by her parents, her brother James McNeill, and her sister Anne Whalen.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Rocco C. Ferrara; her 4 children, Thomas Ferrara, Steven (Karen-Ann) Ferrara, Nancy (Mark Held) Ferrara, and Colleen (Scott) Lance; her 7 grandchildren, Alexander, Kaitlin, Rachel, Kegan, Robbie, Christian, and Margo; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Eileen’s life will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 10:00 am, in Holy Cross Church, Dewitt. Private entombment will be in St. Mary’s Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eileen’s memory can be made to Upstate Cancer Center, 750 E Adams St, Syracuse, NY 13210.
