Elia (DiNatale) Scaffido's Obituary
Elia (DiNatale) Scaffido, 67, of Liverpool, passed away Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Furnari, Sicily, the daughter of the late Tindaro and Francesca (LoPresti) DiNatale. Elia came to the United States from Italy in 1953. She was a communicant of St. Peter Church for many years. Elia was a Deli/Bakery Specialist with P&C/Big M Foods for over 30 years. She loved to entertain for family and friends at her home, winning numerous awards for her baking and cooking. Keeping family traditions was a very important part of her life, especially on holidays. Elia also loved to travel and spend time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Carmel C. Scaffido in 2012. Elia is survived by her three loving children, Peter A. Scaffido of Liverpool, Joseph S. Scaffido of Ithaca and Gina M. Scaffido of Syracuse; two grandchildren, Alexander J. and Hannah Y. Scaffido; a sister, Santina Caloia of Solvay, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a funeral mass will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
