Elizabeth J. Pistilli's Obituary
Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Pistilli, 69, passed away January 29, 2021 at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers, Florida. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late William and Vera (Neuman) Purcell. Betty grew up in Jamesville and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Le Moyne College with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and went on to earn a Master’s degree at Syracuse University along with additional advanced studies. She retired after thirty years as a middle school teacher with Jamesville-DeWitt School District and served a term as President of the Jamesville-DeWitt Teachers Union. Betty enjoyed reading, drawing, swimming, walking on the beach, and spending time with family and friends. She loved to be around people and had a great sense of humor. Betty was always making people smile and will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her siblings, Michael Purcell and Mary Lou Barnwell Storrs.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, David Pistilli; her daughter, Danielle (Andres) Hipolito; her son, Jason Pistilli; two grandchildren, Mateo and Maya Hipolito; a brother, John Purcell (Bonnie); sister-in-law, Patricia Pistilli; three nieces and two nephews; two great-nieces and four great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville, NY. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt, NY. Friends and family may call on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Road (Corner of Buckley Road), North Syracuse.
