Ellen Kay Lander's Obituary
Ellen Kay Lander, 74, passed away February 4, 2026 in Syracuse, NY. She was born and lived most of her life in Liverpool, NY.
Ellen earned her RN from St. Joseph’s College of Nursing and worked in nursing roles at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Crouse Hospital, and Hutchings Psychiatric Center. She was a lifelong animal lover, especially cats, enjoyed books and puzzles, and was an avid reader of British mysteries. She was proud of her Irish heritage and deeply cherished time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Hines and Robert Lander; brothers, John and James Lander; and daughter, Katie Ziparo.
She is survived by her sons, Matthew Lander (Brielle Spataro) and Thomas Ziparo; and grandchildren, Penelope and Ethan Lander, and Nick Ziparo.
The family thanks the staff at Parkrose Estates and St. Joseph’s Hospital for their care.
A small private ceremony is planned with Thomas J. Pirro Jr. Funeral Home.
