Emidio Alberici's Obituary
Emidio Alberici, 88, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on September 7, 2023. He was born in Tocca da Casauria, Italy, son of the late Eustacchio and Anna (Smarrelli) Alberici. Emidio served in the Italian Military and was the owner and operator of Bella Casa Builders, Inc. and ABC Estates, LLC in Liverpool.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Loretta (Novelli) Alberici; his three children, Marisa Alberici, Stacey Alberici, and Paul (Sarah) Alberici; six grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Alex, Justin, Jason and Marisa; two great grandchildren, Ayla and Dante; two brothers, Joe (Lucy) Alberici and Angelo (Rosemarie) Alberici; two sisters, Carmela (Fernando) Vona, and Maria (Tony) Quattrocchi, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Emidio was born in Italy. He served in the Italian Army, “Alpini”. His father bribed the General with a bottle of Centerba (a well-known liquor from their hometown), to allow him to leave the services. He finished his time with the Italian Army and was granted American Citizenship. When he was 23, he immigrated to the United States, following his brothers, Joe, and Angelo. His parents and sisters, Carmela, and Maria, followed later. They landed in Syracuse, where they started Alberici Brothers Construction. Together, the 3 brothers built many houses and apartments in the Syracuse suburbs, he was very proud of their accomplishments, and shared a very strong bond with his siblings. Emidio had made a wonderful life for himself, but he was missing one important piece: a family of his own. During a trip to Italy, he visited a shoe store that Loretta happened to be working at. He went back to that shoe store every single day of his remaining time there, and it’s safe to say, he found a shoe that was a “perfect fit” in Loretta! They married in their hometown in Italy, and returned to the US, where they started their family. They had 3 children, Marisa, Stacey and Paul. Sunday dinners are a staple at the Alberici house, time spent with family meant everything to Emidio. Anything Emidio did, he put 100% of his efforts into, whether it was his job, or tending to his garden. He was an absolute wizard when it came to recalling facts about history or doing math calculations in his head. There are many things Emidio loved in his life, but topping his list would be: his family, the feeling of putting in a full day of hard work, gardening, laughing, drinking wine, eating ice cream, the Farmers Market, and the Italian National Soccer team. He was a kind man, of few words, but that made every word he said that much more valuable. He had many life lessons, and stories he shared, that we will continue to re-tell in his memory. In Italian, the saying goes “mangia bene, ridi spesso, ama molto” – eat well, laugh often, love much.
A special thanks to all of the people that helped Emidio in his battle against Parkinson’s, including, but not limited to: Dr. Cambareri, and all of his staff, Dr. Bonavita, and all of his staff, Dr. Shukri, and all of his staff, the staff at Community and Crouse Hospitals, the nurses that gave him care day-in and day-out: Karen, Natasha, Della, and of course, Jason Alberici. Thank you, to the physical therapist, Hospice of CNY, and all the prayers, support, and love.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Emidio’s life will take place at 9:30 am on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Epiphany Parish at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool, followed by entombment at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Mausoleum, Baldwinsville.
