Emmelina M. "Emmie" (Duchessi) Raccuia's Obituary
Emmelina M. “Emmie” (Duchessi) Raccuia, 97, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully with her loving daughter by her side on Thursday, June 27, 2019. She was born in Amsterdam, NY, daughter of the late Mariano and Maria (Padovani) Duchessi. Emmelina married the love of her life, Anthony in 1946; he passed away in 2004. She is also predeceased by six siblings, Angelina Abballe, William, Anthony, Peter Duchessi, Victoria Martin and John Duchessi.
Emmelina is survived by her daughter, Mary Linda Raccuia of Fayetteville; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends as well.
She was employed with Flah’s for 46 years and enjoyed traveling; she and Tony were avid NY Yankee fans. Emmelina was a member of the St. Therese Society at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church; she was also a member of the Daughters of Columbus and many other organizations throughout her life. Emmelina always enjoyed reminiscing about her childhood home in Amsterdam, NY and always remained interested and up to date on current events.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019, 9:00 am at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Emmelina’s life at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt, NY. Family and friends may call from 3:00 – 6:00 pm on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
