Ernest L. Bottino's Obituary
Ernest Louis Bottino, 95, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the VA Medical Center. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Luigi and Filomena (Giannone) Bottino. Ernie served in the US Marine Corps at Okinawa and Guam with the 6th Marine Division, and was a Purple Heart Recipient. He married Theresa Rugolino on April 17, 1943 and together they raised their family. He was employed at Easy Washer, Carrier Corp, and Communications Energy until his retirement at 90 years of age. Ernie and Theresa were members of various Golden Agers groups and loved to travel together. He kept himself busy, always willing to help his family and friends. Ernie was a loving, caring, and respected father to all his family and will be truly missed. A special thank you to the VA Hospice staff for their kind and dignified care of our father.
He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Bottino in 2012 and brothers, Emilio, Victor and Louis.
Ernie is survived by his children, Louis (Susan) Bottino, Filomena (Dexter) Blake, and David (Margaret) Bottino; seven grandchildren, Scott (Laura) Bottino, Heather (Jeffrey) Murphy, Jason (Stephanie) Blake, Jarod (Lisa) Blake, Ian Blake, Ashley (Michael) Scala and Alexandra Bottino (Robert Osborne); his great-grandchildren, Sydney, Xander, and Addison Bottino, Gavin and Braydon Murphy, Ethan, Abby and Cooper Blake, Ryan, Leah Theresa and Jake Scala, along with several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 8:00 AM in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Ernie’s life at 9:00 AM in St. Daniel’s Church by Msgr. Yennock. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, January 13, 2017 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
