Ernestine F. (Marsello) Lanza's Obituary
Ernestine F. (Marsello) Lanza, 97, of Syracuse, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Syracuse to the late Assunta (Montouri) and Gaetano Marsello, Ernestine was a member of the Most Holy Rosary Society and Mother’s Club. She enjoyed golf, attaining a hole-in-one, as well as bowling and sewing. Most of all, she loved cooking for her family and always had her homemade cookies to serve with her coffee.
Along with her parents, Ernestine was predeceased by her husband, Frank N. Lanza in 2010; and her 2 brothers, Joseph, and Anthony Marsello.
Ernestine is survived by her 3 children, Elizabeth (Mark) Doyle, Dorthea Lanza, and Frank (Marge) Lanza; grandchildren, Katie, and Nicholas Lanza; a brother, Ralph (Mary) Marsello; sister-in-law, Gail Marsello; brother-in-law, Anthony “Tony” Lanza; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Ernestine’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 10:30 am in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 342 Vine St. Syracuse. Per the family’s request, they are asking all attendees to please wear a facial covering. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Frank, in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
Ernestine’s family would like to thank her caregivers, Tasha, and Shanice, St. Joseph’s Hospital 3rd Floor Comfort Care, Dr. James Telonis, Kathy, and the M.I.S.T. Team for their loving and compassionate care of Ernestine.
